The IDOR’ researcher Stevens Rehen won the \u00a0“Pr\u00eamio Sa\u00fade 10 anos” from Abril publishing in the category of Mental and Emotional Health for his research “cellular reprogramming applied to the study of mental disorders”, held in partnership with the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB) at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).<\/p>\n

Every year, the Health Prize bestow personalities that somehow contribute to improving the quality of life of Brazilians. Since the first edition, 4,177 entries and 75 trophies were given to professionals and institutions across the country. Rehen competed with two projects in the finals of this year’s awards.<\/p>\n

In the lab, the researcher coordinates the team that creats brain cells from stem cells in order to study neuropsychiatric diseases and test new drugs. A pioneering initiative which can contribute to the treatment of various diseases in the future. The work has the support of Finep, Faperj, Capes, CNPq and BNDES.<\/p>\n

In presenting the award Rehen thanked his staff and the prize organization. “It is an honor for me to receive this award and very important to see Brazilian science being recognized and disclosed within the country, especially in time of such financial hardship in science as what we are facing now,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
