Especialistas de diversas partes do mundo vêm afirmando que o açúcar é uma das substâncias mais nocivas da atualidade. Além dos problemas relacionados à obesidade e diabetes, o excesso de açúcar pode levar à depressão, de acordo com estudo publicado no último dia 27 de julho, na revista científica Scientific Reports.
Em entrevista ao Estadão, o Dr. Paulo Mattos, psiquiatra e Coordenador de Neurociências do IDOR, afirma que é preciso ter cautela para entender os resultados da pesquisa: “O estudo se refere a quadros de ansiedade e depressão bastante leves e gradativos. Mesmo em um estudo que abrange mais de 20 anos, é difícil dizer se antes desse recorte as pessoas já tinham sintomas”.
